Day 44

Posted: July 15, 2012 in Bike Ride Across America 2012

Today I had the privilege of preaching at the morning and evening worship services at Martin Luther Chapel.  Martin Luther Chapel is an ever-changing community of people who are called to share God’s gracious love with others in the academic and residential community of East Lansing, MI.  In the photo I appear with Pastor Dave Dressel, who has served as pastor of this congregation for many years.  In addition to celebrating campus ministry with the people of Martin Luther Chapel this weekend, our family was also blessed with the opportunity to spend some relaxing time together at a very nice hotel and at an athletic facility with an outdoor swimming pool.  A big thank you to everyone who helped make our weekend in East Lansing such a wonderful experience!

With a little over 1,000 miles to go, it’s not too late to consider sponsoring my Bike Ride Across America with a financial gift to Lutheran Campus Mission Association:

  • Individual sponsorship.  A penny a mile for this 3,500-mile trip is an investment in campus ministry of $35.   At 2 cents a mile, your investment doubles to $70!
  • Group sponsorship. Do you have a teen group, a school faculty, or a men’s or women’s group?  Challenge them to partner with Lutheran Campus Mission Association for a total of 10 cents a mile.  Your group’s investment in campus Gospel outreach: $350.
  • Congregation sponsorship. Invite the whole congregation to participate!  Collect a door offering — or challenge them to support campus ministry at 50 cents — or a dollar! — a mile.  Your congregation’s investment in our church’s future leaders and in sharing the Good News on campus (at 50 cents a mile): $1750.

Any amount you provide will bless Lutheran ministry in campus communities. Gifts will be used to start new campus ministries and revitalize existing ones.

And of course anybody can donate at any time online!  Just click to go to the Lutheran Campus Mission Association “Bike Ride” web page, find the PayPal “Donate” button, and follow the instructions. If you prefer to donate via check, please make your check out to Lutheran Campus Mission Association (write “Bike Ride” in the memo line), and send it to:
