Day 6

Posted: June 7, 2012 in Bike Ride Across America 2012

Today began with a 14 mile climb up Sherman Pass (5575 feet).  This is the highest elevation I’ve encountered so far.  Two nights ago three inches of fresh snow accumulated on top of the snow that was already there.  The temperature on my bike computer read 37 degrees, which was absolutely numbing when combined with today’s rain and the windchill from my descent.  All-in-all I rode a total of 65 miles, making it to the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge.

Well done, Kent! Frigid temperatures and snow aside, isn’t Washington an awesome state?! Thanks for the updates. It’s fun to know where you are. God bless!
